About us
At Lancashire Sports Repairs, our story is rooted in a family passion for the outdoors and the art of repair. Founded in 1994 by David, a qualified footwear technologist with a background in manufacturing, we began as a small repair shop, dedicated to extending the life of outdoor footwear.
What started with serving other outdoor enthusiasts quickly grew. Soon, brands also began turning to us to repair their products and we expanded into repairing clothing and a variety of other equipment.
We’re based in Burnley. Like a lot of Lancashire towns, it was home to a huge number of manufacturing mills. Whilst most of these have been lost over the years, the skills still remain. It’s the reason we’re here, and the reason we still do things the way we do: proper hand skills, taught in-house, passed down rather than off the peg.
We Use What We Repair
Everyone on the team knows their way around a workshop, but most of us know our way around a mountain too — hikers, climbers, campers, cyclists. When a jacket comes in with a blown seam or a bag’s given up at the strap, chances are someone on the bench has had the exact same thing happen to their own kit. We’re not guessing at what outdoor gear goes through. We’ve been there.
Beyond Repairs
Repairs are what we’re known for, but it’s not all we do. Over the years we’ve helped design and build a prototype life vest for an Olympic sailing team, made custom waterproof covers for a range of electric equipment, and built bags for para-cycling gear. Anything that needs precise work with technical fabric, and someone who actually understands how the equipment gets used, tends to end up with us.
